On 22 March 2021, INDICATOR is presenting a pair of world premiere Blu-ray editions of very different, but equally exceptional, Howard Hawks films: THE CRIMINAL CODE (1931) is a pre-Code prison movie, starring the great Walter Huston (Dragonwyck) as a district attorney-turned-prison warden who gets to witness first-hand the effects of his convictions; and TWENTIETH CENTURY (1934), another pre-Code production, is the film which not only set the template for the screwball comedy but also made Carole Lombard a major star.

Next is the UK Blu-ray premiere of CRIMEWAVE (1985). Directed by Sam Raimi after the success of his The Evil Dead, this comic-book inspired amalgam of slapstick and film noir was scripted by the Coen Brothers, and features an eclectic cast which includes Louise Lasser (Bananas), Paul L Smith (Popeye), Brion James (Blade Runner), and cult favourite Bruce Campbell (The Evil Dead).

Also released on 22 March is the world premiere Blu-ray of THINGS CHANGE (1988), David Mamet’s second feature as director. Mamet regular Joe Mantegna plays Jerry, a low-level gangster assigned to spend the weekend with Gino (played by much-loved screen veteran Don Ameche), who is about to become the fall guy in a gangland killing. Things Change is pure Mamet, demonstrating his trademark wit, intelligence, and knack for rapid-fire dialogue.
