S<\/span><span id=\"yui_3_16_0_1_1438417526671_7064\">eptember kicks off with the <b><strong><span style=\"font-size: small;\">Otto Preminger Film Noir Collection<i> <\/i><\/span><\/strong><\/b>(1945-50) on Limited Edition Blu-ray, a three-disc box set featuring <b><strong><span style=\"font-size: small;\">Fallen Angel<\/span><\/strong><\/b>, <b id=\"yui_3_16_0_1_1438417526671_7066\"><strong><span style=\"font-size: small;\">Whirlpool<\/span><\/strong><\/b> and <b id=\"yui_3_16_0_1_1438417526671_7063\"><strong><span style=\"font-size: small;\">Where the Sidewalk Ends<\/span><\/strong><\/b>. <\/span><!--more--><\/p>\n<p><span id=\"yui_3_16_0_1_1438417526671_7064\">The <i><span style=\"font-size: small;\">film noir<\/span><\/i> theme continues with <b><strong><span style=\"font-size: small;\">Night and the City<\/span><\/strong><\/b> (1950), Jules Dassin\u2019s London-set baroque masterpiece of crime and corruption. <\/span>2015 marks the centenary of the controversial, yet extremely significant silent drama, <span style=\"font-size: small;\"><b><strong>The Birth of a Nation<\/strong><\/b><i> <\/i><\/span>(1915) by D.W. Griffith. This re-mastered release follows the Griffith summer season at BFI Southbank. <span id=\"yui_3_16_0_1_1438417526671_7078\">We celebrate Halloween with DVD re-releases of chilling titles <b><strong><span style=\"font-size: small;\">Sleepwalker<i> <\/i><\/span><\/strong><\/b>(Saxon Logan, 1984), <b><strong><span style=\"font-size: small;\">The Black Panther<\/span><\/strong><\/b> (Ian Merrick, 1977),<b><i> <\/i><\/b>BBC TV\u2019s<b><i><strong><span style=\"font-size: small;\"> Schalcken the Painter <\/span><\/strong><\/i><\/b>(1979) and on Blu-ray is <b><strong><span style=\"font-size: small;\"> Nosferatu<i> <\/i><\/span><\/strong><\/b>(F.W. Murnau, 1922), the much imitated adaptation of <i><span style=\"font-size: small;\">Dracula<\/span><\/i>. <\/span>This autumn is the 40<sup><span style=\"font-size: small;\">th<\/span><\/sup> anniversary of the untimely death of controversial writer and filmmaker Pier Paolo Pasolini. To mark the occasion the BFI is re-releasing six of Pasolini\u2019s most widely renowned films together in the <b><strong><span style=\"font-size: small;\">Pasolini Blu-ray Collection<\/span><\/strong><\/b> (1968-1975) \u2013 <i><span style=\"font-size: small;\">Medea, Theorem, Sal\u00f2, or The 120 Days of Sodom <\/span><\/i>and his Trilogy of Life (<i><span style=\"font-size: small;\">Decameron<\/span><\/i>, <i><span style=\"font-size: small;\">The Canterbury Tales<\/span><\/i> and <i><span style=\"font-size: small;\">Arabian Nights<\/span><\/i>).\u00a0 The BFI is also thrilled to announce the release of <b><strong><span style=\"font-size: small;\">Abel Ferrara\u2019s<\/span><\/strong><\/b> <b><strong><span style=\"font-size: small;\">Pasolini<i> <\/i><\/span><\/strong><\/b>(2014), starring <b><strong><span style=\"font-size: small;\">Willem Dafoe<\/span><\/strong><\/b>, on both Blu-ray and DVD, following its theatrical release on 11 September. Also out in October is the DVD premiere of <b><strong><span style=\"font-size: small;\">The Children\u2019s Film Foundation<\/span><\/strong><\/b> Sci-Fi drama <b><strong><span style=\"font-size: small;\">Masters of Venus<i> <\/i><\/span><\/strong><\/b>(1962); the Richard Hawley scored <b><strong><span style=\"font-size: small;\">Love is All<\/span><\/strong><\/b> (2014), director Kim Longinotto\u2019s collage of a hundred years of love and courtship on the silver screen, and Ousmane Semb\u00e8ne\u2019s <b><strong><span style=\"font-size: small;\">Black Girl \/ Borom Sarret<\/span><\/strong><\/b> (1966), one of the founding works of African cinema. November sees the release of <b><strong><span style=\"font-size: small;\">Murder in the Cathedral<\/span><\/strong><\/b> (1952), George Hoellering\u2019s film adaptation of the classic verse drama by T.S. Eliot featuring music by L\u00e1szl\u00f3 Lajtha and the voice of the writer himself, and <b><strong>Make More Noise! Suffragettes in Silent Film<i> <\/i><\/strong><\/b>(1899-1917). Released to complement Sarah Gavron\u2019s forthcoming feature film <i><span style=\"font-size: small;\">Suffragette<\/span><\/i> (2015),<b> <\/b>the collection compiles over 20 silent films from the BFI National Archive, combining gloriously anarchic comedies, newsreels and documentaries with a specially commissioned score by Lillian Henley. It presents a fascinating insight into the early 20<sup><span style=\"font-size: small;\">th<\/span><\/sup> Century struggle for women\u2019s suffrage.
