This was a classic case of Bass\u2019s work being superior to the film that it introduced, but the designer was also associated with some ironclad classics, such as Stanley Kubrick\u2019s <em>Spartacus<\/em> and his work with Alfred Hitchcock, notably <em>Psycho<\/em> and <em>North by Northwes<\/em>t.
